FUN FACT: ABBA’s stage costumes were deliberately garish & impractical as clothes deemed too outrageous for everyday wear were tax deductible under Swedish law.

Unfortunately 1980s producer John-Nathan Turner forgot to check if the same exemption applied in UK law.

FUN FACT: On 26th March 1965, 'The Crusade' actor Tutte Lemkow cut his right index finger during recording of part four.

According to the internal BBC accident report form, Lemkow was cutting at William Russell's left boot 'which had been tied by thongs to a stake'.

FUN FACT: Following the broadcast of 'The Leisure Hive' part one on 30th August 1980, visitor numbers in Brighton fell 77% during September 1980.

East Sussex County Council successfully claimed damages and director Lovett Bickford was never invited back to the series.

FUN FACT: The Daleks made their first TV appearance live on Blue Peter in November 1963. An early prototype, constructed by Shawcraft Models Ltd, was showcased by presenter Christopher Trace. A BBC memo of the time described how Head of Drama Sydney Newman 'went nuts'.
