Your regular reminder that we shouldn't be trying to build assessment that AI 'can't do' because the frontier moves so fast. Here's a slide from today; the figure on the right is from the book on the left us.macmillan.com/books/97812507…

Knowing if AI is giving you garbage requires an understanding of what quality is. This 'evaluative judgement' is perhaps the most crucial capability in a time of AI

I created an MS Form for faculty educators to share how they're using in their teaching. After setting up Qs on what, why, & how (w/ no ref to academic integrity issues), Microsoft made the follow Q suggestion. Seems AI's assumption about AI is use for nefarious purposes 😆

Phillip Dawson ian hall Kane Murdoch If a personal enrolled on a program is being trafficked, no amount of good teaching will prevent cheating. See the reporting of Michael Bachelard and Nick McKenzie from last year and you can join the dots. theage.com.au/national/alleg…

Had a request for a speaker on L2 writing, translation software, artificial intelligence and integrity. Who are the go-to experts/researchers that can also speak practically on this?

With just a $10k incentive, yet another 'AI can't do x' has been disproven. All it took was better prompting.

'Just set assessments AI can't do' is a bad plan. There's so much more than $10k on the line.

The big education crisis caused by AI is not going to be in schools (there was cheating before AI & we can figure out AI uses that boost learning), but after graduation.

White collar work is secretly based on an apprenticeship system that will break

From my book Co-Intelligence

A good reminder that the recent breakthroughs in AI were pretty unexpected: we went from a list of “nowhere near solved” problems to 85% of those problems being solved in a couple years.

Also a reminder that we don’t actually know how future capabilities will evolve, either.

Hey gang, a friend is doing some work with doctors around communication. She's looking for a confidence scale/marking guide/assessment questions that could be done pre/post a workshop. Any tips?

I feel like a lot of people are presenting results like this as if chatgpt is being used to like,,, fake results, and not as a writing assistant by the largely non-native English speaking community of scientists
