July has already seen: The hottest three-week period ever recorded. The three hottest days on record. The highest-ever ocean temperatures for this time of year. It is still possible to avoid the very worst of climate change, but only with dramatic, immediate #ClimateAction.

The failed court challenge to #ULEZ by 5 Conservative run councils, including Bromley, was a colossal waste of taxpayers' money The £140,000 spent by Bromley council on the legal challenge could have (approx): 🥣👨‍👦‍👦 Provided 60,869 free school meals 🛣️🕳️ Fixed 2,560 potholes

NEW: we need to talk about the dire state of British transport infrastructure. Of the 52 UK cities with 250k+ people, only 8 (15%) have a tram or metro. In France & Germany it’s 80%, Poland is on 60%. Even *American* cities are better served, and the US hates public transit!

This is the key chart for comparing transport in US vs Europe: US cities have chosen car travel. They do it pretty well (with obvious negative externalities) Euro cities (+ London) have chosen public transport, and do it pretty well UK-ex London does neither well, and suffers.

🧵 UK businesses recognise that #netzero is a major economic opportunity. Delivering a thriving low-carbon economy will create jobs, bring down energy bills, and drive prosperity. Policy certainty, support and market signals are key. This is clear from today's responses 👇
