Renata. + there were people who were willing to throw the homeless under the bus by letting them get arrested, something that could hinder them getting housing.

Renata. + the lawyers guild almost withdrew support because there were some who wanted to evict the homeless by doing a census, many of the homeless were PoC. For two months Dewey Square was the safest place I had been in since becoming homeless a few months earlier.

Renata. I was part of Occupy Boston and there were a lot of homeless, including myself, that were part of the movement. Some actually felt they had a safer place to stay. Some worked in the camp in ways that being in a shelter wouldnโ€™t allow. Yea there were bad elements there. +

But I what I do know is that now more than ever it is imperative for journalists to stand in solidarity with their colleagues who are facing retaliation, persecution, murder, torture etc, specifically our Palestinian colleagues, because our humanity is bound with one another.

What is allowed to happen to others, eventually finds itโ€™s way back. When we say โ€œyour silence will not protect you,โ€ this is not meant as a euphemism. This is literal. And the safety of journalists in this country (US) is only becoming increasingly precarious. Move accordingly.
