#TGIF 🎶 happy almost-weekend, everyone! We are just 3 sleeps away from our #LIPNsymposium 2024! Everything is ready and we're so excited to have you all! Registration on Monday is bright and early from 8.30-9.00 (plus coffee ☕🥛) The Francis Crick Institute ! More details ⬇️
Our work evaluating metagenomics and targeted approaches for diagnosis and surveillance of viruses is now out in Genome Medicine! UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health Genomics to Enhance Microbiology Screening BTRU UCL Population Health Sciences genomemedicine.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…
📣Our next LIPN ECR seminar will be happening on the 24th Oct st Imperial College! Come and hear from Kelly da Costa from University of Kent and @DBrokatzky from London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine about their science! Networking refreshments afterwards. Register here: shorturl.at/oK29T
Hear! Hear! Our next seminar will be on 13th Feb at the Blizard Institute. Sean Carlson from Queen Mary University of London and Anna McNaughton from University of Bristol will tell us about fungi and HBV! Don't miss it, register here: tinyurl.com/ymfhsbea Come for the science, stay for the networking social!
NEWS ALERT: Our 3rd annual LINE symposium will be on the 9th of June The Francis Crick Institute. Join for fantastic ECR-science, networking, a careers panel and so much more. Submit your abstract: shorturl.at/7KuXL Free registration: shorturl.at/wLyWY Details: shorturl.at/MyWNl
🚨INCOMING! Join us for our next LINE seminar (9th of April) UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. We are excited to host Oscar Torres and Mohamed ElGhazaly to hear about metagenomics in diagnostics and how host/pathogens battle it out! Followed by a networking social! Register here:shorturl.at/kGmfh
New preprint! We developed a fast method that allows the use of hybridization capture workflows with Oxford Nanopore without additional ligation-based steps! We validated our method using targeted viral metagenomics Twist Bioscience and Viral WGS Agilent Technologies medrxiv.org/content/10.110…
Our community members then presented incredible Oxford Nanopore use cases, including Judith Brewer showcasing how rapid metagenomics is faster than standard microbiology for identifying respiratory infections and how new targeted methods increase sensitivity & speed for sterile sites
Join us! Postdoc Position – Development of rapid metagenomic workflows for diagnostics and surveillance (Lab-based position) Apply by July 9th. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions! ucl.ac.uk/work-at-ucl/se… UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health
