Excellent week at the brewery shop.

Two new members of Team Swannay (that's +50%) mean we can open Mon-Fri, 10am-2pm. We'll manage even more hours soon enough.

Great to see lots of visitors - visitor visitors, and locals, too.

We now have cold beers to go, you just have to

Getting up before at dawn at this time of year and driving to my wader hide means getting up around 3.00am. It's worth it though, the light changes so rapidly and by 7.00am It's time to head home again. Here an Oystercatcher bathes in the warm light.

It’s a beautiful morning in Kirkwall. Don’t forget we run a tour of the historic graveyard ***EVERY WEDNESDAY*** at 1100. The tour lasts one hour and costs £10 - no need to book, just head to the south transept (go to the middle and turn right) and meet your guide there.

Many waders, such as Curlews and Lapwings, are facing big declines across the UK. Orkney is a stronghold for some species but they are still under threat even here. That's why we're working with landowners such as Mark to improve habitat for the birds and boost their breeding
