This #LaborDay, the NYSM honors Frances Perkins, the first woman to serve in a U.S. Cabinet and an instrumental force in shaping the New Deal. Her commitment to workers' rights was deeply influenced by witnessing the tragic Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in 1911.

#ScienceTuesday: A Cast from the Past! 🦴 Before the Cohoes Mastodon was displayed, casts of missing bones were made to complete the skeleton. Here's an original cast of a vertebra, signed "E.E. Howell, April 29, 1867." The NYSM still holds many original casts in its collection.
