So I found out the day before yesterday that my high school buddy died the previous night. Her husband was sobbing; it was entirely unexpected. Please say an 'eternal rest' for Renee, and an extra prayer for Robert, who was such a blessing in her life.

If the medical support is all that is sustaining life, there are ways it can be gradually and gently withdrawn (i.e. starting with the blood pressure medication, not with the ventilator!) to let the person breathe forth his or her soul in peace.
