A kind stranger just recognized me in Toronto, stopped to say thank you and to wish us a #HappyPassover . That’s the Canada our grandparents came to as refugees fleeing antisemitism.

#ChagPesachSameach , friends and colleagues. Here’s to safety and freedom from hate for us all.

Each #Passover we talk about our exodus from Egypt. With our grandparents who survived the Holocaust, we talked about freedom, safety.

This year, people around the world are once again calling for death to Jews.

We ask for our children: When will this hate as old as time end?

There is a difference between peaceful protest and hateful intimidation.

It is unconscionable to glorify the antisemitic violence and murder perpetrated by Hamas on October 7th. This rhetoric has no place in Canada. None.

To the creeps who send antisemitic, anti-Zionist vitriol, we will track you down and you will be charged.

To non-Jewish allies out there, call out everyone in the streets of our cities shamelessly chanting in support of Hamas, glorifying October 7th, calling for death to Jews.

The right to protest does not include:

- Glorifying the events of October 7th,
- A call for the death of Jews or Israel,
-Openly advocating for terrorism and violence.

In Canada everyone has the right to feel safe.

This is not who we are as Canadians.

Anti-Israel and antisemitic rhetoric continue to escalate, as demonstrated in this clip. Peaceful protest does not include chants supporting or celebrating terrorist massacres. Societal reluctance to deal with the normalization of antisemitism and glorification of terror allows

Chants glorifying terrorism. Chants that the US House of Representatives massively voted are antisemitic. Chants extolling violence. This is not a rally for peace.

Toronto synagogue today saw its windows smashed by hammer-wielding criminal wearing a mask. Another attack not just on Jews, but on the basic values of a free and tolerant society. Canadians can not accept this hate and violence as the new normal.

Remember that:
They were silent when Assad massacred half a million Syrians and Palestinians.
They were silent when the Houthis restored slavery in Yemen.
They were silent on Sudan's ongoing collapse and starvation.

No one in Columbia, Harvard, Stanford or any Ivy league held

Today, downtown Ottawa. No more euphemisms, they are openly promoting terrorism and violence towards Jews. This is intolerable and it is time for Canadians to speak up.

In the last week, I’ve been the recipient of targeted antisemitic hate and I’ve witnessed past allies behave in ways that are deeply hurtful to the Jewish community. Despite it all, I firmly believe we can find a way forward for ALL people to find peace and safety.

Our MPP is Joel Harden. He was a friend until Oct 7. Literally haven’t heard from him since then. Not even a phone call to ask how our family is faring in the face of #antisemitic hate.

The Ottawa Centre NDP Ontario NDP and NDP have profoundly let down the Jewish community.

The Ontario legislature has a long-standing rule that members can’t use props, signage or accessories intended to express a political statement. The same is true in federal gov. Could have avoided alienating the Jewish community in #Ottawa at an OCDSB meeting this week.
