(1/2) Excited about our new paper calling for wider implementation of NDBIs in community settings, esp. by behavioral therapists. A huge proportion of autistic kids are served by behavioral therapists due to insurance mandates & the medical model of disability in the U.S.

This is a must read! “Because NDBI purposefully change the language environment for autistic children, we have an ethical responsibility to ensure that we are changing it in ways that are beneficial.”

Our commentary is out! Although EI systems are perceived as a promising setting to implement autism EBPs, implementation efforts seldom account for the family-centered service delivery model used in EI systems. Sarabeth Broder-Fingert MD, MPH Aubyn Stahmer

With new toys that may be flooding your home during the holiday season, this could be a great time to Rotate Toys! Rotating toys means keeping a limited amount of toys available to your child & rotating the toys every 2-3 weeks. This keeps things fresh and fun for our kids🙌

In a recent randomized control trial, Kasari and colleagues compared equal dosages of DTT and JASPER (an NDBI) with young autistic children with minimal to no vocal speech. While some gains differed, both approaches were effective. Check it out, here: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37070270/
