Last week began the US Army Monuments Officer Training Smithsonian. It focuses on Cultural property protection in the context of army, joint and combined operations, from doctrine, staff planing to protection and evacuation of museums in war zones.
“Deliberate destruction of cultural heritage is a War Crime & can be prosecuted by Int. Court” International Council of Museums (ICOM) condemns deliberate destruction of Ukrainian cultural heritage & reminds Russia of its "obligation as a state party for the protection of cultural property in conflict”.
As of 21 September, UNESCO 🏛️ #Education #Sciences #Culture 🇺🇳 has verified damage to 192 sites since 24 February: 81 religious sites, 13 museums, 37 historic buildings, 35 buildings dedicated to cultural activities, 17 monuments, 10 libraries.
