Happy FND Awareness Day!

Thank you to everyone working hard to make a difference, in ways big and small, for this underdog disability community.

Here's an essay I wrote a little while back on the biology and social history of FND.

nothing here that hasn’t already been said *for years.* There are valid criticisms of SATC: it’s a neoliberal fever dream, its social & sexual politics (especially re: race/queerness) can be regressive, it gets vapid, etc. But the good things about it are still SO good, sorry!💅

Boston bike infrastructure has improved a lot in the five years I’ve been here! So many major routes with protected lanes. (Unfortunately that doesn’t solve the fact that the street layout looks like a pile of spaghetti thanks to 17th Century carriage roads, but, y’know)

I hate the sword guy meme format, and I ESPECIALLY hate that people use it to express relatively mundane and common opinions!!!

I assume this person is either a troll or a teenager, but: banning little kids from places of public accommodation effectually bans many women from them too. Kids are part of society, and people should simply learn to deal with that!

here’s all you need to say to someone when you’re breaking things off early on: “it was nice meeting you, but the chemistry just isn’t there for me - thanks and take care.” It has the advantage of being true/impossible to argue with, without getting detailed or blaming anyone

Millions of pregnant people have received COVID vaccines, and the data are solid: the vaccines are safe and effective for the pregnant person, and a growing consensus is emerging that vaccination during pregnancy also protects newborns. scientificamerican.com/article/covid-… on Scientific American
