What a great night! NEKS hosted a Korean community engagement night in partnership with CCSYR YRDSB Pathways ISCS YRDSB 🏳️‍🌈 YRDSB_SS to share information about transition from elementary to secondary, post secondary pathways and special education. Knowledge is power!

Industry tour with Guidance, Student Success, Co-op, PAE and Tech teachers at the AECON Training and Innovation Centre. We got hear from local 183 and the IBEW about careers in the unions. It was a beautiful day!

NEKS invites Korean families and students to a community engagement night on April 11, 2024. Families will have an opportunity learn how to support their child, and to attend workshops that cover transitions into secondary schools, post secondary pathways, and student services!

Teachers from elementary and secondary came together to learn about experiential learning. Thank you to all the educators who came out, took risks, laughed and reflected on ways they can integrate experiential learning with their students!

Over 200 female-identifying students from YCDSB and YRDSB attended our Women in Trades event today. Students got to explore skilled trades through hands on activities and heard from our keynote speaker, Emily Chung, about her experience as a journey person. #whoruntheworldgirls !

Supporting East Asian Students (SEAS) family engagement night. Presentations about the Ontario education system and YRDSB pathway opportunities were available with Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean and English!

YRDSB students in the Black Excellence Entrepreneurship Co-op program attended a Lunch & Learn at YSpace with founders from the Venture Catalyst program. Students are mentored by the Black Entrepreneurship Alliance and will kick start their own businesses!

Introducing Community Connected Experiential Learning Journeys! York Region DSB #experientiallearning

Black students in Grade 11 and 12 have an opportunity to participate in the Black Excellence: Entrepreneurship Co-op program. Interested students can speak to their Guidance Counsellor or the Co-op Department at their school!

The Pathways team supported The Shoebox Project for Women by putting together gift boxes that included everyday essentials and small luxuries for women impacted by homelessness.

Today, Dr. Mary Reid 🍉 & Dr. Ardavan Eizadirad (he/him) discussed the importance of creating identity-affirming learning and working spaces for Asian students and staff. It is important for educators to foster brave spaces to amplify student voice & to actively include counter narratives in lessons.
