By prioritizing education, transparency, and dialogue, Nigeria can navigate the complex landscape of biotechnology while safeguarding public health and environmental sustainability.

The Stakeholders' Forum, hosted by my honourable colleague Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako of @FMENvng in collaboration with FMIST Nigeria, @NGFmafs, NBMA, Nigeria & NBRDA NIGERIA, served as a clarion call to foster trust & equitable access to renewed hope, inspired by our esteemed President @OfficialAbat.

We are committed to upholding the highest standards of biosafety and promoting evidence-based decision-making reflects a responsible approach to harnessing the potential of biotechnology for sustainable development.

I emphasized that FMIST Nigeria houses the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency, NBRDA, led by DG/CEO Prof. Abdullahi Mustafa, which is dedicated to advancing technology, research and development and promoting its safe and responsible use in Nigeria.

Where we engaged with the public to foster dialogue, dispel myths and address concerns about GMOs.

As a ministry vested with investing in research and development to ensure that Nigeria remains at the forefront of agricultural innovation and food security in the 21st century.

In recent times, there has been public concern regarding the safety of genetically modified organisms, GMOs, in Nigeria. Historically, every scientific innovation attracts initial resistance. For this reason, I spoke at the Biotechnology and Biosafety Stakeholders Forum.
