Sudden shower -
a flock of sparrows

A Day Is Vast

A day is vast.
Until noon.
Then it’s over.

Yesterday’s pondwater
braided still wet in my hair.

I don’t know what time is.

You can’t ever find it.
But you can lose it.

I could not have asked for a better review of my new poetry collection THIS FAR NORTH out now from Black Lawrence Press: bit.ly/3LFQpuA. Thank you, @motleybookshelf, for your incredibly kind words.

@motleybookshelf I just picked this up an hour ago. It’s probably not exactly what you’re talking about, but it’s a great project!

@motleybookshelf Nicole Arocho Hernández Anna Świrszczyńska transl by Czesław Miłosz & Leonard Nathan in an old edition of Postwar Polish Poetry

in Polish this title is a single word, “Dyszę”—many of the words have more syllables & a more breathless feeling. ty for reminding me, i too am craving reading more of her!

@motleybookshelf writing poetry as tuning into the fact that living and being dead are the same thing; it’s a way of approaching and seeing clearly the truth of death and forging an ethics of stillness and respect ~ poem as way of developing this strange discipline
