Whatever happened to Stranger Danger?

Who encourages anyone, much less kids, to simply hand over their names and locations to anyone, esp someone they don't know?

The foster care system has proven that the govt makes a lousy parent. Family policing has crossed all demographic lines. Parental rights & free speech rights for kids (see Jennifer Huddleston work on this) should take precedence in any 'solution.'

I could not agree more. Congress has conflated 'punishing' tech companies w/ protecting children. Two different things. The 'discussion' has been polarized & destructive. This needs to be an open, reciprocal conversation if we're doing to achieve balance & effective bills.

424 House members and 32 Senators have not sponsored KOSA. Many know there are a lot of good reasons this bill is mired in conflict. Not good for kids. Not good for parents. Doesn't take a single predator off the streets.

This is why the bill has not passed, has not moved in either body and remains in trouble. Easy to dismiss certain people as 'shills' for the industry but it's a much bigger and more complicated matrix of opponents that folks ignore at their own peril.

A real power move to support bills that don't take a single predator off the street but open your company, your investors, your shareholders, your liability insurer up to massive liability. What could possibly go wrong? Scott Galloway the down side is huge everywhere.

Re KOSA cont. There may be 79 members on this bill but that is 14% of the Congress, not exactly a “broad bipartisan coalition” as Sen. Blumenthal puts it.  Everyone from Rick Santorum to the privacy experts, civil libertarians and constitutional scholars object to this bill.

#OPPOSEKOSA Someone needs to tell the Leader and Sen. Blumenthal et all that the ill will being engendered by pushing this so hard against that clear opposition from groups like the ACLU, LGBTQ comm, privacy and Constitutional experts is significant, esp going into this cycle.
