Every two years, IOM publishes the World Migration Report.

In 2022, there were nearly 61 million internal displacements, the highest figure on record.

But what is the cause of internal displacements?

Since 2000, the dynamics of global migration have shifted. Our #WMR2024 reveals a trend: the proportion of female migrants has been on a decline.

It’s intriguing to see that male migrants now outnumber females across the board, with one exception: the elderly adult demographic.
