“I like him as a teammate. I was really surprised, how he is. He's a great guy, he has your back. But at the end of the day, Pat Bev is Pat Bev.” — Dennis Schroder smiling when William Lou asked Schroder about his former Lakers teammate saying the Raptors have ‘no dogs’

Precious Achiuwa didn’t comment on not signing an extension, but sounds optimistic about the season, doubled down on his comments about his individual D the other day: “I’m one of the best defenders in the league, there’s not five guys who can cover 1-thru-5 like I can.”

NBA announces a record 26 Canadians on NBA rosters this year.

If you've seen the '28' number going around, the NBA doesn't count Chris Boucher (born in St. Lucia) and Chris Duarte (Dominican Republic).

Boucher is very firmly Canadian. Despite some confusion, Duarte born in D.R.

There are 28 Canadians 🇨🇦 on season-opening rosters (including players on the inactive/two-way list).

That's a new record, up four from the previous high of 24 last season.

No rookie-scale extensions for Achiuwa or Flynn, unless something comes in past the deadline.

Achiuwa will be an RFA if Raps tender him the $6.28M qualifying offer in June.

Flynn at a $5.81M QO is a possible non-tender/UFA candidate, depending on his season.

Good round up here from Blake Murphy … Monday is the deadline for the Raptors to sign Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn to rookie extensions. If the deadline passes Raptors can make them qualifying offers in the off-season and they would be restricted free agents:

SGA on playing more off-ball: “Idk if you saw ‘The Last Dance’ documentary, but there’s a point in Michael Jordan’s career where he had to learn the triangle offense and playing (without) the ball in his hands 24/7. So if Michael Jordan has to do it, I definitely have to do it.”
