An all-time low, even by BBC standards. It's news, but for some reason the fact that pro-Israel counter-protesters committed the 'horrific acts of violence' is not news.

I’m a BBC devotee, but this is a shockingly misleading and even dangerous characterization.

The horrific acts of violence at UCLA yesterday were committed by extremist supporters of Israel *against* anti-war Palestinian rights protestors in a sustained assault.

Please reword.

'A group of counter protesters came down, armed with makeshift weapons, they were throwing rocks into this encampment.. we saw many of the pro Palestinian students with relatively serious injuries'

Dear BBC, please amend your post. The 'horrific acts of violence' were perpetrated AGAINST the pro-Palestinian protesters AFTER the police were called in. I have no doubt that the BBC will not want to stick to this (I hope inadvertent) distortion of the facts.

So I was supposed to deliver the keynote at a @columbia symposium on climate and language this Friday, but I have informed the organizers that, with true sorrow, I am pulling out because I will not be associated with this university at this political moment.

On tonight's BBC News at Ten, the narrative about the campus protests moved even deeper into the realms of mendacious fiction.

Earlier in the day the BBC led with a fake headline – 'Rival protesters clashed' – even though the footage clearly shows outside pro-Israel agitators

UN Human Rights Spokesperson Marta Hurtado said that the UN is troubled and concerned by the treatment of pro-Palestine protesters at US universities.

Compare the way the BBC and other media are covering the US campus protests with how they covered the protests in Iran and before that Venezuela (remember 'interim president' Juan Guaido?!). Remember the wall-to-wall, headline coverage? Quite a contrast.
