Big day for the lab as our MultiMap platform is now published on Science! Congratulations to Lindsey Zhi lindsey Lin and the team! science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
Congrats, Dequina Nicholas! Well deserved!
Happy to share our lab's first manuscript, describing a drug repurposing screen against HSV-1. We identified decitabine as a potent inhibitor in vitro, and showed it dramatically increases the mutation rate of HSV-1, likely leading to lethal mutagenesis journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/sp…
Excited our final version of Christine Isadora Ng's work on targeted protein relocalization is out today @nature! Molecular control over protein localization could offer new opportunities for therapeutics and biological discovery. Sarafan ChEM-H Stanford Chemistry nature.com/articles/s4158…
Our years of work on nitrogenase assembly paid off! So proud of this paper, which demonstrates the heterologous expression of an active nitrogenase. Thanks to everybody involved for a great team effort! Nature Catalysis, Ribbe Hu Labs, UCI Charlie Dunlop School of Biological Sciences, UCI Chemistry doi.org/10.1038/s41929…

Congrats Yuichi FURUHATA and team for streamlining yeast genetic code expansion through OrthoRep-driven evolution of aaRSs. Several evolved aaRSs give high translational efficiency with unnatural amino acids. A neat self-regulating aaRS is also found. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
I am excited to share the first story from my lab MicrobioOhioState. The question: Can/how do bacteria in the gut respond to abiotic carbohydrate nutrients (i.e., no selective pressure)? Spoiler alert, bacteria are amazing and they can!! nature.com/articles/s4158…
I love seeing our own @toby_hammer around town, even on the side of UC Irvine busses! UCI Charlie Dunlop School of Biological Sciences UCI Microbiome
Our work describing extensive gene divergence on laboratory timescales with upgraded OrthoRep systems is now out in Science Magazine here - science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…. X thread describing the preprint is quoted below. Congratulations to Gordon Rix and team!
We're looking for a new Assistant Professor in Marine Natural Products/Marine Biotechnology Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Come join us - apol-recruit.ucsd.edu/JPF04101
Excited to see the final version of our manuscript out in CellChemicalBiology! In this study, we investigate the mechanism of action of an immunosuppressive small-molecule electrophile, which targets a core splicing factor SF3B1! Rockefeller University authors.elsevier.com/a/1k9mh8jWWJxM…
