In a sense this is just lean. Knowledge is expensive, so if we can do without it, so much the better. From this perspective, knowledge is waste.

How little knowledge can we get away with and still build a system that seems to solve today's problem?

I think there's a pressure in software development towards minimizing knowledge of what we build.
