Makes me wonder: if he had developed a banana intolerance and thrown up, would the artwork have re-appeared, albeit in altered form? theguardian.com/world/2024/nov…

Whenever I read Canguilhem, I want to rush to the library and start doing historical epistemology as conceptual history. (Preparing his "The Living and Its Milieu" for a class next week.)

Time has come for me to leave X, and to move over to BLUESKY. I would be thrilled if you came to the same decision. BLUESKY is very easy to use (90% is the same as X), and you'll find that many of your followers and followees already have a second leg over there.

Do you by any chance have a recording of the piano part of Wagner's "Der Engel" in E major (to accompany a baritone voice)? Needless to say, I am happy to pay for it (if I can afford it). #ClassicalMusic

Finished teaching today. Possibly forever, since I officially retire at the end of September, and Summer Term I am on research leave. -- I'll give a "farewell lecture" on May 21st, at 4pm. I'd be delighted to see some of you there.

Viktor Orbán posted 'Je suis Marine' a short while ago. "Perfect," I say, "let's ban him from holding public office for the next five years!" #politics #France #Hungary #Orban

Fresh from the press: I argue -- with and against David Bloor and Thomas Uebel -- that Frank and Neurath defended a relativist philosophy and sociology of science. #philosophy #sociology #Vienna link.springer.com/chapter/10.100…

So sorry that Helen de Cruz has died. I have never met her in person, and don't know her work well. But during Covid, she suggested that we play music together (lute/voice). We only had a few online sessions but they made me appreciate what a brilliant and warm person she is.
