Reading 'Patterns of Distributed Systems' by Unmesh Joshi . Highly recommend it to anyone designing even the simplest of systems. If I had to teach a course on the topic this would probably be the exercise book. Only regret: wish examples were in Rust Language .

If you only read one online article today, make it Martin Fowler's rewritten piece about continuous integration.

Martin Fowler has a good post on finding seams (with shout out to Michael Feathers) in your legacy code to better support tests, and more.
