If you see this pic anywhere on social media do not Share it. It's fake. Actually it's an abomination, the result of a transporter beam accident which merged several different images into one screaming screeching monstrosity which didn't deserve to live longer than a few seconds.

Comet Pons-Brooks imaged from just outside Kendal, Cumbria, last night. Images S Atkinson - processed crops from stacks of multiple tracked images, taken using a Canon 700D DSLR/iOptron Sky Tracker/300mm lens

I was really hoping to get a nice pic last night of Comet Pons-Brooks low in the sky with its tail unfurled, but the sky was still bright by the time I lost it to cloud. Still, I managed to catch it close to Jupiter. These might be my last pics... :-(

Looks like large areas of UK will be clear this evening, so get out there & see Comet Pons-Brooks before it's gone. Find Jupiter low in the W as the sky darkens, the comet is just to its right, slightly lower. Binocs should pick it up if you look before it gets too low in the sky

I've been doing it since Pathfinder landed in 97 but I will *never* tire of seeing - or making - new views of the martian landscape. Stunning new Sol 1110 view from NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover Original images: NASA/JPL-Caltech Additional processing: S Atkinson

Nights clear enough to see/image Comet Pons-Brooks from the north of England since January 1st? 14 out of 95. Pathetic, really. Our weather is well and truly screwed now.

Such a beautiful comet... Not that UK observers have seen much of it, with our godawful weather... ๐Ÿ˜

Comet Pons-Brooks finder chart for the week ahead. Use binocs to look for a 'fuzzy star' to the right of Jupiter, low in the west as twilight deepens. We'll lose this comet soon so any clear nights over the next week (hahaha!) get out there and look for it.
