First Nation rights rarely concern the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER). Landowner rights are usually ignored by the AER. Two of many reasons for #AERReform Do you CARE?

This is why I advocate for Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) reform. People like these landowners contact me regularly with real life-and-property-threatening oil & gas operational problems. The AER refuses to intervene. As such and unacceptably, I can’t help them. #AERReform

The Board of Directors of the Alberta Energy Regulator must carefully choose a replacement for CEO Laurie Pushor. AER is an administrative tribunal. It's not an industry association, oil & gas producer, or service company Announcement - August 19, 2024 aer.ca/providing-info…

If the highlighted statement made by Andrew Nikiforuk in a Tyee piece is accurate, why are more Albertans not calling for reform of an industry-captured Alberta Energy Regulator? #AERReform

Sing. Sing a song. About clean water, to last our whole lives long. Don’t worry it’s definitely good enough, for everyone else to hear. Just sing. Sing a song. Tra la la la La….

The AER should have flatly rejected the Northback Holdings (Grassy Mountain) application in the first place. Now the Court will have the opportunity to make that clear. Alberta's Highest Court Jams Smith's Coal Plans via The Tyee thetyee.ca/Analysis/2024/…

Why not have the parallel conversation about who will clean up spent oil & gas wells, related facilities & pipelines? This is a far bigger problem than renewables cleanup. Renewables operators can’t force their way onto the land like oil & gas can - this is the big difference.

Mark Dorin (@mark_dorin) 's Twitter Profile Photo

When a wind or solar farm operator desires use of your Alberta land, you can dictate the terms (including eventual cleanup) or say “no” and that’s the end of it. If a pipeline, well or transmission line operator wants on or off your land, they or a govt. tribunal dictate terms.

Good to see this misguided program flopped. Here’s a link my YouTube video about why it is contrary to Alberta law and creates landowner hazards. youtu.be/VvrZFlvW9QU globalnews.ca/news/10737263/…

I see Govt. of Alberta has produced a video for landowners as to how to recover compensation when an oil and gas operator is delinquent. Did you know that Albertans, as taxpayers, pay landowners for delinquent operators until a rec. cert. is issued? youtu.be/7pqfC5AaSA8

Mark Dorin (@mark_dorin) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Last night I spoke to landowners at Warburg on how to recover unpaid land use compensation from delinquent oil & gas operators. The problem to solve is recovery is getting too expensive for Alberta taxpayers. Almost 300 of 670 oil & gas companies (conventional) are insolvent.

The Alberta Surface Rights Act hasn’t been significantly amended since 1983. Premier Redford undertook to change it after the Alberta Energy Regulator (the true decision maker) was created, but she didn’t last. Things have drastically changed. It’s time to review this law.
