So today Environment Agency Jacobs Manchester Metropolitan Uni have published a suite of reports looking at #bluecarbon sequestration in restored #saltmarsh sites in England, such as this one in Greatham on the Tees Estuary
We’re taking action to protect marine wildlife. 🌊
Based on our evidence, Defra UK announced today:
🐟 English North Sea waters will be closed to sandeel fishing.
🎣 13 new fisheries bylaws restricting the use of damaging bottom-towed fishing gear.

This week the Boards of Natural England & Marine Management Organisation met in Newcastle, where we signed a Memorandum of Understanding to reinforce our common goals & ambitions for marine Nature recovery. Integrated action needed with fishing, renewables, blue carbon, minerals, navigation & more.
So after #UKSS23 …highlighting that the Environment Agency and Natural England have published a joint National Seagrass Layer for England.
