For no particular reason, have you seen these gorgeous illustrations by Isabella Mazzanti to Le Fanu’s vampire novella ‘Carmilla’. And did you know that in ‘Dracula’s Guest’ Bram Stoker pays tribute to Le Fanu with a reference to a countess in Styria, as in his ‘Carmilla’? 🧛‍♀️

I think this article meant well, but what a sorry state of affairs when a marginalised community has to highlight its own sacrifices in a war in order to prove that it shouldn’t be ostracised and racially attacked within its own borders during peace time

In September, I gave a talk on Byron and Vampires going into the sources he was inspired by, his own vampiric writing, and, of course, the vampire he inspired!

There can be only one.

And that one is clearly Hogg.

Of course, 'The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner' is one of the best Gothic books ever written. But also, his short stories are phenomenal!
