Cornwall. Last night after reading on stage at Fowey Festival I am Sat outside Fowey Hall Hotel watching the sea and the harbour. I am looking forward to Bude Festival later today.

One of the great achievements of the last 20 years is to prevent children from getting hold of free books. We did this by closing hundreds of libraries and sacking thousands of librarians.

It's been such an honour to spend time with every single piece of work entered for the Orwell Prize for Reporting Homelessness and great to work with Paddy, Sabrina, Lemn, Liz, Graham and Jeremy. Raising awareness of the brilliant work out there on homelessness is so important

At my local bookshop buyers leave vouchers to be redeemed for anyone who is in need of a book. Isn't that a great idea!?

Judging The Orwell Prizes with Paddy O'Connell (chair) , Sabrina Cohen-Hatton (she came direct from Buckingham Palace) & Freya Marshall Payne . We worked alongside the team from The Orwell Foundation: Liz Wallace, Jeremy Wikeley and Graham Self. Here we are upstairs in a bar in Soho.

I was driving at 25mph in a 20mph zone. So here I am for the next 3 hours.

This is Arun Ghosh in my place . Arun plays clarinet with Anoushka Shankar. He brought this poster for a play I wrote in 2002. On the poster are the words 'I don't want to survive, I want to live'.

The line is used years later in Steve McQueen's '12 years a Slave'.
