So rewarding to see years of work led by Carlos Taboada and Jesse Delia in three labs (mine, Junjie Yao, Lauren O’Connell) finally come to fruition. Short version: glassfrogs maintain transparency by hiding their red blood cells in their mirrored livers. nytimes.com/2022/12/22/sci…
Bluebottles (Physalia) are known for drifting across the ocean with their large float as a sail. On our blue-water scuba dives in Hawaii, we found tiny 4mm babies down at 20 feet, not yet ready to breach the surface. Cc Jellywatch
