Wonderful talk by Dr. Neil Haave (he/him) this morning at #ACUBE2020 on building classrooms that promote resilience in student learners - how can we overcome student resistance to active learning and intellectual development by designing our courses in a way to support failure?

Today, we recognize that history is muddled with revisionist stories that don’t mention the genocide, exploitation, and colonization of Indigenous Peoples’ land. It’s past time that we recognize the harm done to Indigenous communities during this National Day of Mourning.

This is heartbreaking, and none of my words can do it justice. Holding space for Jalajhia and and the Mashpee Wampanoag today. #mmiwg2s

A reminder, 400 years after the Mayflower, that the Wampanoag people are still here, still practicing our culture, and still facing adversity We didn’t just disappear or go extinct. And so I want to note some of the amazing things that we’re doing as a people (THREAD 👇)

I reside on the ancestral and unceded lands of the Pawtucket and Massachusett Indigenous people. This land was sold by (read: stolen from) Squaw Sachem, a woman leader of the Pawtucket, to the colonizers. She was forced to resettle in the Praying Indian Town of Pompanoag.

Awesome new paper in Life Sciences Education by Daniel Reinholz (they/them) and colleagues: "We document seven concrete strategies that instructors used to promote equitable participation in their online classes and that can be incorporated by biology educators into their online teaching."
