T-minus 99 days until the Olympics. Where is the commison on abuse in šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ sport you promised, Carla Qualtrough? No sportwashing the sport abuse crisis with the distraction of the Olympic Games!

šŸ’” This would not have happened if adults from McFarlaneā€™s former gym, GymCan or GymON had spoken up. To protect just our own child is not enough. Parents, we must come together, share information, to protect all the kids.

Dehumanizing. Carla Qualtrough said the Commission would be mobilized w/in 6-10 wks of her Dec 11 announcement. Her lack of urgency & silence is disrespectful & dehumanizing to survivors & athletes. Many have risked so much & been failed too many times.

If Canada heads to the Paris Olympics without having initiated a commission/inquiry (hopfully an inquiry), Carla Qualtrough is sending a clear message to the nation that athlete safety and wellbeing is not a priority. Let's not sportwash a sports abuse crisis. No more distractions.

Loved this conversation Katrina Monton! Excellent delineation bw discomfort & safety. Discomfort in service of learning and change is what we need to normalize among sport leaders & admins who have gotten very comfortable in a system that is doing the opposite of bringing outā€¦

I was honored to be invited as Speaker to conference in Trondheim, Norway, and to represent our Young Players Protection In Africa - Mali organization.

It was a very interesting exchange on the failure of sport governance to protect athletes.

This woman is a GEM! Still doing the work to hold Sport Canada & sport orgs to account. Without a National Inquiry, with judicial power, MPs need to step in with powerful mechanisms! Sport's voluntary participation in a Commission is not going to cut it. Rick Westhead
