Worst methodology ever used to determine 'walkability.'๐Ÿ˜† Check out their article.

I once walked *73 blocks* in downtown , on a perfect Friday afternoon in 2006, before seeing even ONE PERSON walking outside. I know Dallas has improved since then, but it's still pathetic!

.TxDOT just gifted The Onion a perfect article without realizing it. There is sooo much that's wrong with their theory that this, plus many land-use-and-transportation-related spin-offs, could keep The Onion busy for an entire year.

Just ONE MORE lane. INRIX ยฎ car brain.

SOOO true! NIMBYs *constantly* block this incredibly obvious solution!

Plus, as Strong Towns always reminds us, neighborhoods and cities are not static! They need to constantly evolve incrementally! But too many people with massive power & privilege want to preserve it in amber.

I just tuned into the 76ers game, and... It's tied, 76-76. I'll probably never randomly jump to that score ever again in a 76ers game. ๐Ÿ˜Š Philadelphia 76ers

I hope that a HUGE part of the Strong Towns gathering in in May involves debating pros & cons of what has done. Those will be incredibly fascinating debates!

And I can't wait to read Charles Marohn's latest book!๐Ÿ˜€โค๏ธ

County west of I-5 is dominated by a refinery, golf courses, cheesy Birch Bay resorts, and cul-de-sac .

Semiahmoo's peninsula could be a stunning, walkable, dense, bike-friendly coastal community, with produce grown year-round within a short walk. Whatcom County Gov

that's anything BUT detached one-plexes can only be built on 25% of all the residentially zoned land in the USA. It is (or was) even lower in .

's the worst: 94% suburban-style homes.

The chart is a couple years old, but it's still embarrassing at best.

Transit use is, indeed, deplorable in the U.S.

But the U.S. has only 6 real cities:
NY, SF, Chicago, Boston, Philly & DC

Criteria:
Density > 10K/sq mi
<25% housed in one-plexes
High transit use

The two on deck are Seattle & LA, but their % of one-plex is WAY too high.

Agreed! The transit and potential in LA is amazing.

The one BIG problem is that the metro area (combined with the Inland Empire) is sooo vast that dozens of city pairs are over 125 miles apart. And if your company moves 100 miles (but is still 'in LA''), you're screwed.

What on EARTH got into seemingly *everyone* in the 1950s, 60s and 70s?!? Almost EVERY post-WWII building was *hideous*! And they actually thought that 's City Hall was the eyesore?!?!? It's beyond magnificent!!

Yes, this would be a DREAM trip back in time! Many cities around the world are now prioritizing PEOPLE over CARS. is an *obivous* candidate for this! Plus, SEPTA has such great potential!

It's SO simple. And it would pay back 100-fold! PHLCouncil City of Philadelphia

REFUSE single-use
REDUCE consumption

.Ray Delahanty | CityNerd is so right! I can't think of a better way to enhance a beautiful historic commercial district. All that's missing: Monster Truck tires and a ladder.๐Ÿ˜„

Even can't match this level of urban vibrancy & walkability.

Notice how happy this woman is.
