ANALYSIS: BC mayors are the 'CEO' of their municipality. That has led Harrison's mayor to suggest that he has president-style executive authority. In today's members-only Fraser Valley Current newsletter, which we've made open to all, I explain why that's wrong.

So University of Toronto held a press conference which wasn’t open to their own campus media?!

Reporters at The Varsity have been doing an amazing job covering the encampment (and have a track record of excellent campus coverage)

This disrespect to student media is despicable.

Last night, Vancouver police hit another pedestrian on E. Hastings while driving. The IIO is now investigating.

This comes just 2 weeks after a VPD officer pled guilty to an MVA charge in a similar incident. Previous story: www1.thetyee.ca/News/2024/05/1…

10 properties have been damaged and 4 homes have been destroyed in the Fort Nelson wildfire. My thoughts go out to all those impacted and the families who’ve lost their homes. I urge everyone to follow emergency alerts to keep yourself and loved ones safe. cbc.ca/news/canada/br…

Can’t make this stuff up: Globalnews.ca asked for ON health care worker shortage figures, was denied, appealed and lost. Meanwhile, The Canadian Press got those same numbers under FOI… FROM THE SAME OFFICE.

Kind of makes you wonder about the IPC’s ruling, no?

Marking my last day with the @vancouversun and my last day working in tandem with 40-year veteran @vaughnpalmer. He’s always a wealth of political knowledge and helped me find my footing as I jumped into reporting. I’ve got a week off before I start with CBC on May 27.
