More frequent xtreme #ElNino by 2050 if GHG emissions not reduced. Imagine a 1997 #ElNino every decade. One of the last pieces of the climate change puzzle answered. Urgent reductions in emissions needed to avoid this scenario. Kaushal Jud Partin NSF NCAR CGD Laboratory #CESM #NSFfunded
New research shows that the world can expect stronger and more frequent extreme weather. Scientists at University of Texas Institute for Geophysics, University of Arizona Geosciences and ATOC at CU-Boulder looked to the past to uncover a climate mechanism that sets the dial for future El Niño. Many thanks to Tower Talks for the invite to be a panelist on the episode about #climate change. I had a fun time representing University of Texas Institute for Geophysics and UT Jackson School of Geosciences science to the students on a student run channel! The team there did a great job. youtube.com/watch?v=hIy0QR…
Kicking off the new year with a 📣New Paper📣in AGU_Paleo, led by Alexander James at USC, with Jun Hu, Julien Emile-Geay, Jud Partin and others. In it we explore whether we can find regime changes in the Holocene Asian Summer Monsoons. We can for 8.2, but 4.2 falls short.
