Officials now say North Carolina's budget surplus will be $1 billion, down from the $1.4 billion projected earlier.

Legislators in Raleigh talk about children a lot. Rep. Julie von Haefen invited children to come speak for themselves, and it was incredibly powerful ❤️

The children of NC depend on us. They are pleading for adults to fully invest in public schools, so they can learn lots after eating nutritious food in safe schools, surrounded by supported staff.

They have the right to a sound, basic public education. We owe them better. #NCed
