Fun fact about the 8th CD: The FEC treats the special and regular elections as two different contests.

That means candidates who run in both elections can raise twice as much from donors as they could otherwise.

A reminder state laws says a vacancy in House seat 'between the 2nd Tuesday in April and the 2nd Tuesday in May in the year of the general election shall be filled at the partisan primary and general election.'

Mike Gallagher resignation took effect April 24.

.Governor Tony Evers has vetoed 73 bills so far this session. But the Senate can only take up legislation that originated in that chamber. Assembly, which doesn't have a GOP supermajority, must go first on its bills.
