here’s a Whitby jet. found at Whitby this morning. made of fossilised monkey puzzle tree. 183 million years old. highly polishable. popularised by Queen Victoria. who was heavily into mourning jewellery. Gothic af. that is all.

Equisetum columnare, or horsetail fern. not much different from the horsetail fern of today. except this fragment of stem is 172 million years old. from the Saltwick Formation. found at Whitby this morning. and then again. at the museum. this afternoon.
