I read almost 900 pages of detailed plans to institutionalise Trumpism, and they are *wild*. Project 2025 has mostly been understood as a domestic agenda - with a big focus (rightly) on plans to further erode reproductive rights & democratic institutions.

If the government actually cared about reducing rates of DV they would remove partnered payment rates. Financially tethering Centrelink recipients to relationships is a recipe for abuse

Asher Wolf It's insane that Centrelink assesses household income, but ATO taxes individual income. The very worst of both worlds.

Students with disabilities in the public system deserve equitable assistance and support.

How can we possibly be ok with widening the socioeconomic divide like this?

📚 The End of the Morning – Charmian Clift, edited by Nadia Wheatley (NewSouth Publishing)

As Paul Genoni (@CurtinUni) writes, this novel is Charmian Clift’s most successful piece of fiction, but it is only a piece and one that leaves two matters unresolved. theconversation.com/the-end-of-the…

It would appear that Mr Weinstein has had his conviction for rape overturned because too many women told the court he’s a rapist.

Gorgeous review by Edwina Preston of Nova Weetman's memoir of losing her playwright partner to cancer during Covid lockdowns. Like me, she responded to both its love story & its 'pure nostalgic joy', including the 90s bohemia. The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand UQPBooks

It's an extraordinary time to be discussing Palestine in Germany, which has banned speakers critical of Israel from stepping foot on German soil or even appearing at conferences by video.

I'll be giving talks in Berlin on May 6 and in Frankfurt on May 7. Details below:

In The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand, here's me on how foreign policy might affect Biden’s chances - how Gaza is catastrophically undermining the deeply personal image of a compassionate, generous man that he has so carefully cultivated, and why those perceptions matter.

“Jobseeker isnt supposed to be livable it's meant to be temporary” I get this reply a lot. The fact is the government themselves have said that the rate of jobseeker is a barrier to employment. Hard to focus on getting a job if you can't afford meds and to eat
