The women in this region have been marginalized in the development circles leading to high levels of unemployment and illiteracy. Begging has been another resilience mechanism. All interventions to support this region must be deliberate and focused at addressing the root causes.

For decades, Karamoja region has been characterised by violent conflict, high levels of poverty and food insecurity. It's an area vulnerable to severe natural disasters with frequent droughts.

Many Ugandans continue to remain stranded whenever they move to the middle east in pursuit of greener pastures. Many of these stranded Ugandans are victims of human trafficking. Who owns these quack labor export companies 😪
