These 2 pictures of my dad in the years before his death (as a result of addiction to alcohol & what years of drink (& drugs) did) remind me of how destructive alcohol can be. He wanted to stop (there wasn’t much support out there) & addiction basically took over his whole life

I realised 5 years ago I needed to take a break from drinking. I’ve only had alcohol on 3 occasions since. I’ve never said I won’t ever drink again - but there’s loads of other things that appeal more these days, plus the mental & physical health benefits of sobriety are great
