Can the social media apps tell which users have turned on activity timers? And how does or should their algorithms account for it?

Mohammad Akbarpour Ben Golub 🇺🇦 It's been fun teaching Algorithmic Game Theory at Stanford again. I cotaught it first in 2007 with Tim Roughgarden, after which he and PhD students wrote the 'single sample' paper and his student Qiqi Yan wrote the 'correlation gap' paper, the main topics of this week's…

Ben Golub 🇺🇦 took this snapshot of Jason Hartline and I after today’s class, which I’m using as an excuse to announce that Jason and I just started teaching a PhD class at Stanford, navigating the dance between CS and Econ!

Is it possible to flag an SSRN paper that presents a main theorem that is incorrect? (I can't find information for doing so on SSRN.)

I'm ready for autonomous taxis to be everywhere and to never own a car again. I've ridden Waymo in SF a handful of times. It's a far better experience than other taxis. You can watch the lidar display to see everything it sees, which is everything. sfstandard.com/2024/03/13/way…

George and I wrote a blog post on calibration through the lens of decision making: let-all.com/blog/2024/03/1… We think calibration has strong semantics as 'trustworthiness', and that lots can be gained by designing uncertainty quantification for particular decision making tasks.

At the conference, Liren Shan presented our joint work on 'Error-tolerant Classification Protocols', with Jinshuo Dong and Aravindan Vijayaraghavan.

It develops e-discovery protocols that are efficient, accountable, and minimally disclosive.
