For Iain Maloney - I visited 四国村ミウゼアム yesterday and saw the Brunton light keeper's house. It was great to be able to go inside. There was also a sundial from Nabeshima. The sign said it was used until 1955. #鍋島灯台退息所

I visited Yashima 屋島寺 temple today, #84 on the Shikoku Pilgrimage (四国遍路, Shikoku Henro). Its founding dates from 754 and it really is quite magnificent.

In the Edo period, the movement of people was strictly restricted; it was not possible to travel freely. But travel for the purpose of a pilgrimage was allowed. In Shikoku, Konpira-mairi was allowed. Signs and lanterns were built along the way. These two date from 1794.
