7 years ago, I wrote a small piece about a man who was falsely accused of a crime.

A few days later, I got an anonymous telling me to look up the woman they called “the evilest white woman on earth.”

What happened next is the absolute wildest story you’ll ever hear

A thread

Sarah Olney Juliana Terlizzi Thank you for standing up for victims and survivors voices, Sarah. The exploitative system that bars our therapeutic means of recovery is horrific. These are OUR stories, our lived experiences and we deserve a right to read them. Paying for that service is the borderline abuse.

That is why my colleague, SalBrinton, has tabled an amendment to the Victims’ Bill, scheduled for Tuesday in the Lords, which would help reduce the cost of transcripts for victims.

It is time that all parties came together, listened to victims, and supported this change.

Justice should not have a price tag, and I am so honoured to stand side-by-side with victims such as Juliana, Charlotte Meijer, David Challen, @dollyscoobs and the whole OpenJusticeForAll campaign in calling for action to be taken on the cost of court transcripts

At PMQs today, I raised the case of Juliana Terlizzi, who was asked to pay £7,500 for the court transcript of her rapist's trial.

Nobody should be charged thousands for the transcript of the trial in which they were the victim.

Yet the government keeps refusing to right this wrong.

The Prime Minister has outright lied. He says the govt ‘already offer a free service to families of homicide victims’ to obtain court transcripts, yet myself as one of those bereaved families has had my request denied several times over ⬇️

Lee Mallett controlled every aspect of his partner’s life. The court recorder described it as ‘one of the worst offences of domestic violence he’d come across’.

Mallet, guilty of coercive and controlling behaviour, was jailed for just a measly 45 months.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/24259927.…

Racial profiling is a potentially lethal form of systemic racism. The Metropolitan Police thought he had a knife. Chased him tasered him causing him to fall on his head leaving him paralysed. Destroyed his life. And these cases just keep on coming…

Yep! That was the day I was falsely arrested in Ohio. I stood up to the dirty cops who did it. They were fired and I was awarded over $400k! Thank you for sharing!

Concerning to hear about the return of anti-choice protesters outside one of our local abortion clinics, harassing staff and service users.

The government needs to stop dragging its feet and get on with rolling out Safe Access Zones so we can prevent this.

One reason I’ll never take MRAs seriously is they spend all their time calling out my tweets but never calling out the abuse hurled at me by their minions.

Lay down with dogs; you get up with fleas.

I suspect this could become as much of a meme as 'That.. is..a..DISGRACE'

Upside-down, back-to-front, it all makes as much sense.

Just when you reckon you've seen every twist in the criminal justice system and nothing can faze you... WHAM!

It appears to thoroughly enjoy attempting to break you down as a victim.

I welcome news that the creation of sexually explicit ‘deepfakes’ will become a criminal offence.

This content has a significant impact on victims and must be taken seriously.

There also must be a duty on digital platforms to proactively challenge all harmful online behaviours.

The most interesting thing about this whole National Conservatism row is how everyone backing the conference is avoiding using Article 11 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which protects the right to freedom of assembly and association
