We really need to stop taking those who complain about parking seriously. The street is attached to multiple parkades. There isn’t a lack of parking. There is an excess of cheap people.

Temporarily reallocating 20 street parking spots for the weekend only will cause unmatched chaos and send the city into gridlock lasting well into the week. Never mind the 275 surface parking lots downtown.

The more I learn about the climate crisis and the housing crisis I can't unsee the solution: better-located, less car-dependent communities.

We can solve the nationwide housing shortage while dramatically cutting pollution.

MM McMahon Your reminder that Paul Calandra and the Ontario PCs could amend and approve the Bathurst (and other) MTSAs that have been sitting on his desk since January 2022. That would allow this building to be built today for $0 cost to taxpayers. twitter.com/ScottAAitchiso…

Strongly agree that our idea of homes as an investment is frustrating and corrosive. We need a cultural shift on that. But in terms of actual policies, building more housing is far and away the biggest priority.

The emphasis on housing supply is literally an emphasis on policies that lower prices of new housing, therefore lowering the prices of existing housing.

The policies needed to ensure people don’t see housing as an “investment” are the same ones as needed to boost supply.

Given Bill 20, at the risk of getting fired as an Edmonton Councillor…

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t retweet, share, like, this article calling out the UCP/Premier Smith for not paying her property taxes and owing Edmonton millions of dollars.

NIMBYs try to deny what the data undeniably communicates: all else being equal, denser homes are cheaper homes.

Big lesson this year for current and future city councillors: always raise taxes by at least inflation.

Raising taxes by 0% is a tax decrease in real terms that you will get ZERO credit for.

The vast majority of Toronto neighbourhoods have fewer people living in them today than in 1971, despite a doubling in overall in population.

Toronto needs to upzone these neighbourhoods to 6-8 storeys, in particular.

Question for my fellow Edmonton planning nerds: what if we just deleted the specific node and corridor delineations from district plans and accepted everything else in them?

Why not simply revert back to the fuzzy borders in the City Plan? Good idea? Bad idea?

Let’s be blunt: This is true NIMBYism.

Opposition to housing and change, mixed with kind sounding words and political jargon to mask the shameless self interest in the position itself.

Oakville will never do the right thing left alone. Reform must be provincially driven!

This is a ton of fake nice words to defend status quo NIMBYism in Toronto’s wealthiest suburban city.

As a former resident, I’m not shocked.

It goes to show you that municipalities cannot be trusted to pursue reforms on their own: the barriers of local politics are too high.
