Under SF482 "The Bathroom Bill", districts may still have unisex, single occupancy restrooms, but should designate them as such. No parental permission is needed for any student to use a unisex, single occupancy restroom, but only one student may be in the restroom at a time.

I had the privilege to interact with Principal Dan Marburger regularly during the past 18 years. All of the tributes being shared are truly fitting of Dan. He loved, cared, and served, whether it was his family, the Perry community, or the students & staff in his building. #Hero

Iowa educators are encouraged to communicate thoughts, concerns, and observations to the DE regarding new student attendance/chronic absenteeism standards. A task force is meeting to discuss this topic. The DE is doing its best to interpret the new law, and is open to thoughts.

Administrators SF2435 mentions "days OR hours" for absenteeism. The DE's coding guide quotes federal OCR guidance that students are not absent if they are at school 1/2 of the day. As such, Iowa schools are not required to count missed hours if a student is there half of the day.
