LA's guidance on RSO units destroyed in the fires requires them to be replaced as RSO units again.... unless the units are built 5 years after January 7. Great, so we are just incentivizing developers to delay the rebuilding of units by another 1-2 years.

Nothing I value more than helping a business open their doors, or helping a builder build homes. These things benefit our neighborhoods in immeasuraable ways, and don’t require a single dime of public money. Moving urgently is the only way we move forward to make it happen.

Today the CA legislature revealed transformative changes to the housing development approval process that will go into effect as soon as Monday. ★With these changes, most infill housing projects will be exempt from CEQA. ★If a project is by-right, it generally must be approved

Very happy to share that just yesterday we received our first approval for an SB 684 lot split. It was the first in Glendale. Best part: we got the approval in under 60 days. We have four more SB 684 lot split projects currently in the pipeline within LA.

The impossible has become possible: we've passed a clean CEQA infill exemption. This is probably the most important thing California has done on housing in the present YIMBY moment.

Overshadowed by yesterday's CEQA news, but: SB 1123 goes into effect today. You can now build 3-10 townhomes or condos on most vacant or uninhabited single-family lots in CA, as long as there have been no rental tenants in the past 5 years
