East Antarctica 38.5C above seasonal average on March 18th.

Biggest jump in temperature ever recorded at a met station - anywhere on Earth.

Just staggering.

Make no mistake.

Anything is now possible. And I mean anything.

Scientists have discovered that octopuses can remember people, plan ahead, and solve complex problems.

A deeper understanding of octopus intelligence is fueling opposition to plans to factory farm the creatures.

“The speed with which the climate is now changing is faster than (almost) all scientists thought possible.
There is now zero prospect of holding the average temperature increase this century to below 1.5°C; even 2°C is beginning to slip out of reach.” jonathonporritt.com/mainstream-cli…

⚠️MSF expresses profound disappointment with the UN Secretary-General's remarks on to the Security Council, which refer to a partial solution at best for North Darfur but leave vast areas in Darfur, Kordofan, Khartoum and Jazeera states still inaccessible.

To me, the real question is why the US feels it needs to aidrop aid into Gaza?

If there is any country that can compel Israel to send in more aid on the ground, it would be the US. So why not do what should be safer, easier, and with fewer logistical limits?

I’ve covered the Middle East for decades. I am at a loss to find words to express how utterly absurd this is as a means to address this crisis. Of all the options the US has at its disposal this is the absolute worst.

We just published an investigation into the killing of half a family in Gaza. It provides a window into the brutal reality of the war, with civilians confronted with Israeli military’s indiscriminate use of force in areas where they were told they'd be safe.

Utterly shaken after meeting survivors of the ethnic cleansing in Darfur here in eastern Chad. The women that were gang raped by Arab militias, the father that had three sons killed, the mother who took in 5 orphans. They must not be ignored anymore by the rest of the world.
