After 4 years COVID finally caught me. Now recovering during lunar new year in Singapore. Happy new lunar year to everyone.

Where exactly is the argument here? People who use an AppStore not by Apple know that they are doing that. Your grandmother will likely never have to deal with a 3rd party store because she doesn’t even know how to install it.

This feels like a great business plan for being bankrupt within the year. The harsh truth is that average customers don’t want to see public reports about their security unless it says they have (and had) no flaws. Sure there are a few exceptions but not enough to run a company.

Keep in mind that the only people who claim that 3rd party AppStores for iOS will lead to security disaster are people on Apple’s payroll protecting their business model or people who have no clue how iOS security works internally and that the installation source is irrelevant

Sorry but what App developer would be so stupid to offer free Apps if they have to pay Apple millions when their free app becomes popular. This whole new model is a farce and the EU needs to enforce harsh penalties for this nonsense. The whole core technology fee is ridiculous

Furthermore is it correct that alternative AppStores under Apple’s new model will not be able to offer free apps? Because at 1000000 installations 50 cent per install has to be paid.

Apple still having control over who can run an alternative App Store and the whole Apple notarization of Apps in other store is a complete farce. They are still the gatekeeper and the EU should enforce draconian penalties

So what will the EU do now that Apples plans are known how they try to exploit the loopholes in the DMA. Obviously what Apple will do is completely against the spirit of the law and only works by exploiting loopholes in the current version of the law.

Maybe it is a you problem. I just checked the first 10 ads shown to me and none of them has a community note saying it is scam. Also looking at what they advertise for I think at least 8 of the ads are harmless.

Happy New Year! Plagued by my bruised rip age and multiple respiratory illnesses towards the end of 2023 I started the new year with a 5 day fast. Only water, tea and coffee for 5 days. I finished it yesterday feeling great. These are my ketones throughout the journey.

I wonder if whoever sold the exploit chain or parts of it agrees that Kaspersky is a legitimate target.

That is actually a lot harder than people think. iOS updates or reinstalls or or have the habit to turn these features on again. Blame Apple for these dark patterns to make everyone use it

I said this years ago that I applauded Apple for putting so much brain into stopping persistence (and repeatedly failing) but that real “malware” would likely prefer to not persist anyway.

Imagine they would be in a business where the more exploit chains are killed it increased demand for and value of their other exploit chains. Oh wait …
