There is really an incommensurable divide between the worldly youth on campuses and octogenarians and their followers fighting for power through bloodsheds.

I watch these videos in awe of generations who grew up appreciating and respecting their differences. And I cannot but fret for their future, as I have seen state-sponsored violence destroy those bonds - in place after place, over and over again.

The first day of #WPSRKS2024 is almost over, with interventions by activists, heads of states, survivors of wartime sexual violence, women in militaries. The team of Office of the President, Republic of Kosovo 🇽🇰 has worked tirelessly to make the gathering possible amidst regional tensions/escalating wars. 🙏

The start of #WPSRKS2024 here in Prishtina. An enormous gathering of civil society activists, local leaders, foreign dignitaries, and security officials from all over the world. The energy around the forum is incredible. Kudos to the whole organizing team in Kosovo.

As this excellent thread by Rebecca Riddell indicates, stealth privatization of health care (and care more broadly) is now a global phenomenon. And it has profound gendered consequences, structurally undermining whatever formal strides towards equality might have been made.
