On this day in 1536, Anne Boleyn was led to the scaffold. She proclaimed her innocence during her last confession & spoke bravely whilst on the scaffold. She asked that those who would meddle in her cause going forward would judge her the best. ❤️

To mark the anniversary of Anne Boleyn's execution, we've carefully turned the pages of her personal Books of Hours to reveal her handwritten inscriptions. This rare glimpse is only available today & this weekend so don't miss out. ❤️

Elizabeth I was Anne Boleyn & Henry VIII's only surviving child. Elizabeth chose never to marry, despite pressure to produce an heir to continue the Tudor line. She famously became known as the Virgin Queen and ruled for 45 years. Her reign is known as The Golden Age.

On this day in 1536, Anne Boleyn had already been imprisoned in the Tower of London for 13 days. And it was on this day that she finally went to her trial. However, the trial had a predetermined outcome. The swordsman from Calais had already been ordered by Henry VIII.

In the 15th & 16th centuries Hever Castle was home to one of the most powerful families in the country, the Boleyns. Research has now revealed that Anne of Cleves made a significant contribution to the Castle after the lease was given to her as part of her divorce to Henry VIII.
