On this day in 1536, Anne Boleyn had already been imprisoned in the Tower of London for 13 days. And it was on this day that she finally went to her trial. However, the trial had a predetermined outcome. The swordsman from Calais had already been ordered by Henry VIII.

In the 15th & 16th centuries Hever Castle was home to one of the most powerful families in the country, the Boleyns. Research has now revealed that Anne of Cleves made a significant contribution to the Castle after the lease was given to her as part of her divorce to Henry VIII.
